Coordination Meeting: Visit of the National University Sports Federations representatives in Salerno

We are getting closer to the start date of the European Universities Games 2026! This week, representatives of the National University Sports Federations gathered at the Fisciano campus in Salerno for the usual NUSA coordination meeting.

In addition to the coordinators, representatives of EUSA (European University Sports Association) and members of the Salerno 2026 Organising Committee were present. They welcomed the sixteen delegations and presented progress on the preparations for the Games.

The goal of the meeting? To share information on the main organisational areas of the EUG 2026 (sports facilities, hospitality, accreditation, accommodation, catering, transport, events and ceremonies, communication activities), but above all to pass on the energy and team spirit of the Salerno 2026 Organising Committee staff.

On Tuesday, May 12, the representatives from Armenia, Croatia, Czechia and the other European delegations were welcomed at the beautiful Fisciano Campus by the president of CUS Salerno, Lorenzo Lentini, by Professor Francesco Paolo Adorno, the Rector’s delegate for sports activities, and by the EUSA honorary president, Adam Roczek, thus officially kicking off the NUSA coordination meeting.

Salerno, as confirmed by the speakers, will host the most important university-level event, officially becoming the European capital of academic sports from July 18 to August 1. More than just a simple competition, the Games represent a large collective project that will see the cooperation between EUSA, the National University Sports Federations and the Organising Committee.

And it is precisely behind the scenes that the Committee is taking shape for the event, preparing to host around 4,000 participants, among student-athletes and officials from around 40 European countries and around 400 universities, ready to compete in 13 disciplines. From transport and accommodation logistics to volunteer coordination and communication strategies: every aspect was detailed in precise progress reports.

Thanks to this rigorous planning and the passion of the whole team, Salerno will become a vibrant sports capital, capable of guaranteeing an extraordinary experience for every athlete, student and international partner.

Wednesday, May 13, was instead dedicated to visiting the various key facilities that will be involved during the Games, including operational areas, accommodation spaces and sports facilities in and around Salerno.

Pala Palumbo and Pala Capriglia, designated for Futsal and Handball, Pala Silvestri for Basketball and Stadio Vittoria for the Women’s Football competition were visited. The visits allowed the participants to gain a clearer understanding of the facilities, services and logistics planned for the delegations and student-athletes.

Finally, in the afternoon, a dedicated question-and-answer session was held, offering NUSA representatives the opportunity to ask questions, share feedback, and discuss practical issues directly with the Organising Committee and EUSA representatives.
