University of Salerno and CUS Salerno
The University of Salerno, located in the center of Campania, easily accessible from all the Region, is organized in the form of a Campus, which includes the Fisciano and Baronissi poles. 17 Departments are located on the Fisciano campus, the Baronissi campus is intended
for the “Salerno Medical School” Department of Medicine, Surgery and Dentistry. The constant connecti on between the two poles is ensured by a free intercampus shuttle.
At the University of Salerno there are 83 study courses of I and II level, which offer the 40,000 enrolled students advanced training courses, strongly inserted in an internati onal context. Doctoral courses, masters, graduate schools and postgraduate courses complete the training offer. Research centers, modern laboratories, didactic and multi media classrooms ensure a qualifi ed and valuable teaching support.
An ever-increasing commitment is aimed at research and innovation. 35% of the electricity requirement is self-produced with photovoltaic and cogeneration systems. The next goal is to achieve 80% of self-produced energy.
The Spin-off Incubator was born from the encounter between the University, the territory and the company, aimed at supporting the development of innovative business projects.
Not surprisingly, accredited rankings for the evaluation of universiti es place the University of Salerno in the top 400 of world universities, in 15th place among Italian universities and 1st among those in the Center-South.
The campus constitutes a multi functional space that concentrates numerous structures and services within it. The two large libraries are real open spaces for study and research.
The ERASMUS International Relations Office coordinates internationalization programs and cooperati on agreements,
encouraging the mobility of students and teachers between foreign universities.
The University Language Center takes care of the teaching of 9 foreign languages and courses in Italian for foreign students.
The University Center for Orientati on and Tutoring favors the encounter between the world of school and the university and supports students during their university career. The Center manages the “Future freshmen on Campus” initiative: guided tour of the campus
facilities, services and laboratories.
In addition, the CAOT has been organizing UNISAOrienta for 16 years, an event intended for students and teachers of high schools.
At the end of the course of study, the University Placement Office, to facilitate the professional integration of graduates, provides useful tools for seeking job opportuniti es in Italy and abroad.
The “student-friendly” campus dimension is completed by: residences (about 1000 accommodations), canteens, sports facilities, theater, lecture halls. Parking lots, a bank and post office, a police secti on, a health center and a heliport integrate the range of services. The campus architecture is enriched by important works by contemporary artists.
Off -site students and teachers have the opportunity to stay on campus, in university residences, equipped with every comfort.
The Fisciano campus has a central canteen with 1300 seats which is open every day unti l 10pm and delivers around 3,000 meals a day. In the Baronissi center, the canteen off ers a self-service service.
Two “green” campuses, KM0 products and a healthy lifestyle. Fitness, jogging, football, basketball, tennis, swimming and climbing are just some of the sports that can be practi ced in the Unisa Sport Village, the multi functi onal complex of structures, systems and equipment
for physical well-being.
The university nursery school is also acti ve to support the community, hosting 60 children aged 3 months to 3 years.
UNISA lives beyond the teaching hours thanks to multiple cultural and socialization initiatives: events, reviews, concerts, lectures-shows.
CUS Salerno
The University Sports Center (CUS) Salerno is a non-profit sports organization that promotes and manages sports activities within the University of Salerno (UNISA). Founded in 1985, CUS Salerno is affiliated with the Italian University Sports Center (CUSI) and actively participates in the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and the European University Sports Association (EUSA).
CUS Salerno manages, under a special agreement, the university’s sports facilities, including the PalaUnisa and the university swimming pool. These facilities are used for organizing sports events, tournaments, and training activities, offering students and the university community opportunities to practice various sports disciplines.
Over the years, CUS Salerno has received numerous accolades for its commitment to promoting university sports. In 2021, it was awarded the Silver Star for Sports Merit by the CONI Salerno, a recognition that attests to the excellence in managing and promoting sports at the university level.

CUS Salerno has also played a key role in organizing national and international sports events. In 2019, it contributed to organizing the Universiade in Naples, an event that saw the participation of thousands of athletes from around the world. Currently, CUS Salerno is involved in organizing the European Universities Games (EUG) 2026, which will take place in Salerno and involve approximately 4,500 participants from 40 countries.
After over forty years of activity, CUS Salerno is preparing for new challenges, including organizing the EUG 2026. This event represents a unique opportunity to promote university sports at the European level and strengthen the role of the University of Salerno as an excellence hub in both sports and education. CUS Salerno continues to work diligently to provide students and the university community with growth opportunities through sports, thus contributing to the development of active and aware European citizens.
